About

Hi, I’m Natalie, the author/baker/cook/photographer/seamstress behind Life {Made} Simple. My husband Stephen and I met in 2007 while attending Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, UT. We have since married, graduated, moved to Florida, and relocated back to Utah. We are expecting our first child in September- life has never been better!

About the Blog
I started this blog (as a journal) just shortly after getting married. It has since grown into something that means so much more to me! I started cooking my freshman year of college, and am entirely self-taught (aside from the knowledge my mother imparted on me) through cookbooks, the internet and a lot of practice. Not every recipe turns out to be amazing, so I try to only publish those that I would recommend to friends or family, or that I, myself, would make again.

I began sewing in high school but while studying at BYU, I chose clothing construction as my emphasis. I can proudly say I have skills in construction, draping, pattern making and fit. These days I like to spend most of my time sewing little things for nieces and nephews, and occasionally for myself.

I have no formal training in photography. All that I know I have learned through websites, books, observation, and plenty of practice. When I first started this blog I used a tiny little point-and-shoot camera. Let me tell you, those photos aren't the prettiest. You can see for yourself... just click to the 2009 archives :) Christmas 2011, I received a Canon Rebel T2i.  I have now learned the in's and out's of using it which has helped contribute to the success of my recipes- because we all know that you eat with your eyes first! If you're interested in my equipment, you can go here for a list of my lenses, external flash, etc.

As you can see, our blog is very eclectic. It features projects, pictures and random blurbs from our day-to-day life- oh and a lot of food too! We hope you enjoy it :)
